A photograph that stopped being one
The back print started as a photo taken in Japan in November 2025. Bare branches, a mountain behind them, an ordinary autumn afternoon. It sat in a folder for eight months. Posterising it flattened the sky to red and the branches to black, and the mountain vanished. The count went on last, borrowed from Tokyo Ghoul, where counting down by sevens is what someone does to stay in their own head. Two days from the flattening to the shirt. All three stages are still in the folder.
